Trip March 08'....Scottish Parliament

The Parliament's model
The chamber of the Parliament

The 1st architectural trip was the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh.  It is a amazing building, the design concept was based on three main elements: ship, leaf and dancing minister. The architectural details of the building are very symbolic and abstract. It composed by a lot of art pieces, and the political spaces. The parliament is a symbol of the 21th century parliament were a place that have to take a great responsible to the people but not the MPs themselves. The common court, internal garden and gathering place in the building was designed for the MPs to have more spaces to discuss the people's issues and share their opinion to each others. All the meeting rooms in the building are transparent; the main door to get in the chamber is a over-scale high to remind the formality of the MPs and the ship-shape skylight is represent the history of the Scotland. In fact, I can say every single detail in the building was sensible and meaningful. It designed  properly which composes the history, art, spaces and political element in a perfect way. Cool, if you visit Edinburgh, please don't miss the parliament.
